On Monday 11th June 2007, Ocean Tankers Holdings Public Company Limited celebrated the naming ceremony of its fifth newbuilding chemical tankers M/T “LISA” at Limassol Port. The Godmother of the vessel is Ms Louiza Ioannidou.
The President of Ocean Tankers, Mr. Michael Ioannides, noted that this event is very special for Ocean Tankers and Cyprus Shipping in whole because such events rarely take place in Cyprus, and the people of Cyprus is thirsty of such events and celebrations. The shipping market and infrastructure must be further developed and promoted to Cypriots, and such events really need to take place more often.
A lot of people attended the ceremony, many of them coming from the shipping sector including the President and Secretary General of the Cyprus Shipping Council, the Secretary General and Director General of the Cyprus union Of Shipowners. The Government was represented by Captain Andreas Constantinou Senior Surveyor of the Department of Merchant Shipping who has congratulated Ocean Tankers President for his decision to bring the Newbuilding Oil/chemical Tankers to Limassol, Cyprus and celebrate the naming ceremony in the place of the Cyprus flag Registry. Many investors, other associates and many friends attended the ceremony.
M/T “LISA” is the first delivered newbuilding, and the fifth vessel of Ocean Tankers Fleet. The newbuilding vessel flies the Cyprus flag. In August 2007, the company will take delivery of its second newbuillding, increasing its fleet to six vessels, all double hull and of an average age of 4 years old.
Within 2008 another two newbuildings of 13000 dwt on order with STX Korea Shipbuildings, one of the largest shipyards in the world, will be delivered and contribute to an increase in Ocean Tanker’s fleet to eight vessels
